Current Favorite Books // Littles Edition

My girls love to read. Mostly my youngest daughter Eloise. If she had it her way, we would sit and read all day. Lately her attention span is a little “on the fritz” as she is more interested in talking, but nonetheless, we are big on books over here. These are the few that are on repeat lately. So enjoy and I hope that your weekend is relaxing and your jalapeño margaritas are strong! Also, I know it is totally inappropriate and shouldn’t be watched with your children in earshot or if you are not a big fan of profanity (so be warned,) but this is my favorite thing to watch every Mother’s Day. I know, I know, I really know how to sell it, right?

Uni The Unicorn // Perfect for my unicorn obsessed almost 5 year old. This is a great book about believing in magic even when no one else does. My daughter and I both love the whimsical and colorful illustrations.

Counting With Frida // A short and sweet bilingual book that teaches your little numbers in both English and Spanish. Both of my girls can “read this themselves,” and they love that, mama too.

I Had A Favorite Dress //  I personally really love the message this book delivers, which is not to make a “mountain out of a molehill.” Hoping it sinks in sometime soon. Fingers crossed. It’s also a great lesson in making something new and beautiful out of something that may be otherwise deemed useless or broken. the illustrations in this one are beautiful as well.

 Little Blue Truck // This one is a new classic in my opinion. Both of my girls have loved this one from infancy and still love it now. Any book that features animal, animal noises, and kindness is a go for us! We like kind humans — and kind trucks.

Ada Twist Scientist  // We love all the books by this author, especially Rosie Revere, Engineer. Lately though, my oldest is a nonstop question asking machine. So I think she admires sweet Ada’s quest to search for the answer to the questions around her. The illustrations are beautiful and the books all feature diverse characters, which is refreshing and so important.

Jesus Calling // This is hands down Ellie’s favorite book. She calls it by it’s full title “Jesus Calling for Little Ones,” which is literally the sweetest thing to hear as her mama. It doesn’t get much better that she wants to read about Jesus. This book is a great basic introduction for preschoolers about who Jesus is.

Gaston //  This was the first book Sophie took to “Book Bag Day” at school where you get to bring favorite book and the teacher shares it with the whole class. The illustrations are beautiful and my girls love when I read this with my french accent, which is pretty good if I do say so myself.

Adventures with Barefoot Critters //  Again, the illustrations in this book are beautiful. (If you haven’t picked up on it yet, we love pretty picture books.) This book features cute creatures working their way through that alphabet and the seasons while doing for others and having fun doing it. Cute read.

Madeline // A classic book I remember reading as a child. Everyone in our family has this one memorized, and again, French accents are a big plus.

So what are you and your little’s favorite books?

Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2017

Hey there! Thought I would share my Mother’s Day wish list with you all! I realize it’s pretty late in the game. In reality, all I want is a day where my kids are well behaved all day, no one loses their shit at the drop of a hat (myself included), I get 12 hours of sleep, and a sparkling clean house without any of the effort. Since none of that will happen, here are some material items that I thought might lessen the sting of my reality in the trenches of motherhood. All sarcasm aside, motherhood is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me. I won’t bore you with the specifics, because I’m sure you love your offspring as much as I love mine. So without further ado….

So let me hear it ladies, what are you hoping your husband buys for your children to give to you on Mother’s Day?

|| Rainbows + Unicorns + Flowers, Oh My ||

For my first official post, I’m sharing a little room inspiration. For those who don’t know, I am mama to Sophie who is four and Eloise who is two. They currently share a bedroom. Which is equal parts awesome and awful. Ever since I found out I would have two daughters, I’ve had visions of them sharing a bedroom. I imagined them staying up all night talking and bonding and climbing in to bed with each other and becoming best friends. Let’s all take a second to laugh. The reality is, that most nights my youngest keeps my oldest up asking for water 15 times and saying she needs to blow her nose. And my oldest shushes her loudly and tells her to go to sleep. However, now that they share, they don’t want to separate. My plan is working! Yessss!

When we first moved them in to together we weren’t sure how it was going to go, so we just moved the crib in and held our breath. So far, so good. So, now comes the fun part. Decorating. Sophie has allllllll the heart eyes for anything unicorn or rainbow. It was her birthday theme last year and she asked for it agin this year. Can I get an amen for recycled party decor? Eloise loves anything Sophie loves, so rainbows and unicorns it is. If you’re looking for even more inspiration, check out my Pinterest board here and follow along!
